Types of Lenses
We offer many lenses and frame options including light weight and anti-allergic materials.
Single Vision Lenses - allow you to view a singular (1) field of vision. Commonly used in patients who only need correction for distance or reading. Single Vision can also be used for patients in an intermediate or near focal points, commonly used for working on the computer or closer distances.
Lined Bifocals (Flat Top) - are used for patients who need correction for both distance and reading.
Line Bifocals are the most traditional type of bifocal lens (originally designed by Benjamin Franklin!).
They feature a half circle placed just below the lower lid of the eye. Everything outside of that half circle is set to the distance prescription, while inside that half circle magnifies the patient's reading distance.
Progressive Lenses - Progressive lenses are used for patients who need correction for both distance, intermediate and reading. Progressive lenses use a unique design that allows the patient to gradually increase the strength of their prescription as they look down through the bottom of the lens. Progressives are often called, no line bifocals, are in fact a multi-focal lens. Unlike the traditional line bifocals (distance & reading only), progressive lenses allow the patients to have correction for distance, reading, and offers
the intermediate (computer) fields of vision. Progressives are a popular choice due to their multi-focal abilities and their cosmetic appeal. But BEWARE, as not all progressive lenses are the same level of quality or performance. Many retail, on-line, and unscrupulous opticals offer very poor quality (in some case 35+year old technology!) progressive lens designs, which can severely limit performance, safety, and effectiveness of the lenses. Oconee Vision Group makes it a point to offer quality progressive lens options to fit every budget.
Transition Lenses - are used for patients who desire the convenience of prescription glasses and sunglasses all in one. Transitions are UV protecting and activated lenses, therefore they are clear when indoors and at night. Transitions tint about 78% as dark as a traditional sunglass.
Anti-Reflective/Blue-Light Filtering Coatings - is a coating added to the lenses which helps reduce the amount of light that reflects off of the lenses. This reduction in reflection reduces the amount of strain placed on the eyes and reduces glare at night, halos around headlights, and clearer night time vision. Anti-Reflective coatings feature a very durable scratch coating, which reduce the amount of fine lines and scratches your lenses collect, and are backed with our 1 year warranty.
Specialty Lenses - are lenses to include aspheric (eye-relief) digital lenses, prism-induced designs, UV-protecting sun-lenses, polarized lenses, among other customized optical work our lab takes great pride in.
We are proud to be a certified distributor of Oakley, Costa del Mar, and Maui Jim specialized optics.
